NCDC publishes COVID-19 guidance for Nigerian schools, says school closure not necessary now

    FRI, MARCH 06 2020-theG&BJournal- The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has published a new guidance for COVID-19 prevention in schools and educational settings in Nigerian.
    The new guideline published Thursday outlined the best ways for schools to avoid COVID-19 infection.
    According to NCDC, ‘the most important advice is for all schools to encourage their students to maintain good hand and respiratory hygiene to remain safe.’
    ‘’School proprietors, headmasters, and head mistresses must ensure that students have access to clean water and soap at all times while on the school premises.’’
    According to the NCDC, The best way for schools to avoid COVID-19 infection is to:
    1-Ensure students and teachers wash their hands frequently
    2-Show teachers how to cough or sneeze into a tissue, or to cough into their elbow if they cannot het tissue
    3-Clean and disinfect their premises often
    4-Encourage sick students and teachers to stay home.
    ‘’As of today (5/03/2020) it is not necessary to close schools or to cancel large gatherings,’’ NCDC said.
