SAT JUNE 08 2024-theGBJournal|The national minimum wage negotiation between the Federal Government and the Organized Labour hit a brick wall Friday with both sides presenting deeply differing figures, leaving the country on the brink of another economic shut down.

While the Federal Government increased its offer for a new minimum wage by N2,000 to N62,000, the Organized Labour lowered its demand from over N400,000 to N250,000.

The Federal Government actions may have been emboldened by the stance of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Friday rejecting even the N60,000 minimum wage offer presented by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, following the stalemate, the Tripartite Committee negotiating a new national minimum wage adjourned.

No official statement has been issued by both sides yet on the latest development.
