SUN, FEB 16 2020-theG&BJournal-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai- Ahmadu Bello University, Harvard and George Town University educated, was the former Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) Secretary of the National Council of Privatization and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He turns 60 today.

‘’His zeal to drive change through inclusive leadership and a resilient spirit leaves a legacy that continues to attract and inspire younger people across all walks of life,’’ Buhari wrote in a congratulatory message to the man who started his career as a quantity surveyor after establishing a Quantity Surveying and Project Management Consulting firm in 1982.
The President said he believes El-Rufai’s foresight, wisdom and unusual capacity to mobilize people and resources to actualize dreams stand him out in leadership and administration.
‘’El-Rufai’s entry into public service was truly accidental, but the contributions he has made are deliberate, well thought out and long lasting,’’ the President said.
President Buhari also highlighted his diligent contributions to the 2015 political upset that heralded the take-over of power by the governing APC.
El-Rufai is credited with the real estate boom in the Federal Capital Territory after he transformed infrastructure and land use laws previously engulfed in corruption and deviation from the cities original master plan. He established the Abuja Geographic information System within 12 months of his appointment as Minister of the FCT.
In 2014, he won the gubernatorial primaries of the APC for Kaduna State. In the April 2015 election in the state he secured 1,117,635 million votes to defeat the incumbent governor and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero. The election was upheld by the election Petition Tribunal in October 2015.
