MON. 06 FEB, 2023-theGBJournal| Naja’atu Mohammed, former Director of Civil Society Organisations and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council sent shock waves across the country today during a no-holds-barred interview on Arise Television, naming the members of the infamous ‘’cabals’’ in government, Aso Villa.
The feisty politician was responding to allegations thrown at her by the APC and she let out more cat out of the bag while dismissing the allegations which borders on her pains from being expelled as a member of the APC Presidential campaign council.
‘’She (Aisha Buhari) is also part of the cabal,’’ Na’ajatu Mohammed said in response to questions around Nasir El-Rufai’s earlier claims that there are cabals at the Presidential Villa who are working to truncate the APC’s Presidential candidate’s bid.
‘’We are trying to name names here, and you have to have the guts to tell Nigerians who these cabals are, and I will tell why. First, the hardest thing for Nigerians now is in trying to change their currency to the new notes. People are in a very dire situation. In-fact they are talking about themselves. What El-Rufai is saying is that changing the money is okay, but why now for elections. So is it about elections or it is about Nigerians that are suffering. And whose election? Their election. This is the point that I am trying to make.
‘’So, when they are talking about the cabal, her brother, Aisha Buhari’s brother, same mother, same father is the Managing Director (MD) of Minting and Printing (the state-owned company that prints the local currency). So, what are they talking about? When you talk of Emefiele (the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor) the next thing you talk of is Minting and Printing. Her brother, (Aisha’s brother) same mother, same father is the head of Minting and Printing today in Nigeria. So how cabalish can you be.
‘’When did El-Rufai or any of the APC governors stopped to ever talk about ASUU strike, the killings, the kidnapping of people-they never discuss that. As I speak to you now, hundreds of children from Kebbi, the kidnapped girls from a Kebbi secondary school are still with the bandits for over one year now. But nobody ever said anything about it.
‘’Eighty-four people were killed only yesterday in Katsina. Every single day, Nigerians are being killed. Look at what is happening in the South East, and they don’t care (the politicians). It doesn’t matter who kills you or when you are killed. What matters is that you are dead. It doesn’t make any difference to the victims; it doesn’t make any difference to Nigerians. When or how they are squeezed and strangled for lack of the currency that they will use for their day to days needs. They should stop lying. They are the real cabal.’’
She also hit out at El-Rufai, recalling former President Obasanjo’s view of El-Rufai in his book, including how El-Rufai was appointed as the DG of BPE and Federal Capital Territory (FCT). She went on to describe El-Rufai as a pathological liar.
‘’I don’t think is right for Nigerians to continue to listen to people like that,’’ she said.
She said: ‘’If you remember El-Rufai’s memo after the death of the former chief of staff to the federal government, Abba Kyari. The memo was leaked in which he, El-Rufai was insinuating or was saying that he actually wanted to replace Abba Kyari-You see everything he did was to take the place of Abba Kyari otherwise, according to El-Rufai, some people are already boosting that they will choose the next petroleum minister or that they will hijack everything. So, he wanted to be part of that cabal.’’
She also spoke on the deals she allegedly collected and the different factions of the cabals in the Aso Villa.
‘’There is difference between the Police Service Commission and the APC, so let’s make that very clear,’’ she explained.
She said she is a part-time Commissioner in the Police Service Commission and not a full-time Commissioner. She noted that there are only three full time commissioners including the Chairman and part-time Commissioners such as herself and other commissioners representing for instance, the civil society, the media, women etc who are not on salary. She said they have never been paid any salary but only sitting allowances.
On the factions of the cabal, she said;
‘’Yes, there is a cabal that was led by the late Abba Kyari and the reason why Aisha Buhari first started to attack the cabal is because she wasn’t part of the cabal then. If you recall, she threw out Mamman Daura’s things outside the Villa. If you remember the case of the shootings in the Villa-the gun shot in the Villa, who made that,” she asked.
‘’Aisha Buhari’s cabal is made up of her children and her brothers. She determined the appointment of the former NIRSAL DG. She determined who is at the Minting and Printing. She sometimes even instructs service chiefs. So, who is she? Is she not a cabal?
