THUR, JUNE 01 2023-theGBJournal |The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) today debunked a news report that the local currency, the Naira, has been devalued.

”For the avoidance of doubt, the exchange rate at the Investors’ and Exporters’ (I&E) Window traded this morning (June 1, 2023) at N465/US$ and has been stable around this rate for a while,” the CBN said in a statement signed its Ag. Director, Corporate Communications, Isa AbudlMunin.

The apex Bank advised the public to ignore the report (by a Daily newspaper, today) which alleged that it has devalued the Naira to N630/$.

The CBN dismissed the report as ”the imagination of the newspaper” and noted that it is replete with outright falsehood and destabilizing innuendos, ”reflecting potentially willful ignorance of the medium as to the workings of the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market.”
