LOKOJA, JULY 4, 2016 – Muslim public workers in Kogi, have said that they would celebrate the Eid-El-Fitr, despite the non payment of their salaries in the state.
Some of the Muslim workers, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja on Monday said they would celebrate sallah with high hopes.
Mrs Aisha Ibrahim, a civil servant, said she had not received her salary in the last six months but that would not stop her family from celebrating sallah.
According to her, once the family is happy, there is every reason to celebrate the festive season, as they would manage anything to do so.
Also speaking, Mr Sule Abubakar, in the public service urged Muslims in Kogi, especially civil servants to continue to pray that God would touch the people in authority to pay their salaries.
He said that states should endeavour to pay salaries to workers, who were always working rather than politicians, some of who were not even doing anything in their workplace. .
Mr Raji Yusuf, on his own, noted that although, the celebration would be on a low key, as business no longer boom as usual, his family would celebrate within means.
Contributing, Mrs Idowu Ejibunu, urged the Federal Government to do something about the situation of workers in the state, as suffering was becoming unbearable.
Mr Kehinde Adeyemi also implored Gov. Yahaya Bello to at least pay this month’s salaries to workers across the state to enable them celebrate sallah.
According to him, people are suffering because salaries are not paid and the governor should urgently look into the issue to make the workers happy.
