TUE, 01 NOV, 2022-theGBJournal| Operating terminals of local airlines in Nigeria’s Murtala Mohamed Airport 2 (MMA2), operated by Bicourtney Aviation Services Limited has been completely closed off to workers, passengers and local airlines by Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) today.
The Union is demanding payment of terminal benefits staff who left the services of Bicourtney ‘’lawfully and in line with signed condition of service.’’ Bicourtney sacked almost 34 staff recently to trigger the Union’s action today.
Ibom Airlines issued today statement notifying its passengers of the development, warning that the action will ‘’greatly impact our flights scheduled in and out of Lagos today.’’
Air Peace airline has also issued a statement notifying its customers of the picketing.
‘’We regret the impact of this unforeseen development on your travel plans today and we will keep you informed via our official communication channels as the situation progresses,’’ Air Peace Management said.
Azman Air Services sent out an emergency travel advisory also, advising its intending passengers departing from Lagos to report early at the airport for check, saying they are monitoring the situation and hope the picketing is quickly resolved to avert further inconveniences to Airline operators, staff and the passengers.
