MTN Nigeria pays NCC N71.6 billion to renew spectrum licence and N374.6 million for UAS licence for another 10 years

WED 08 SEPT, 2021-theGBJournal- Karl Toriola, CEO MTN Nigeria (MTNN) commenting on the development said ‘’renewing the licence for another ten years is very important to our business and enables us to continue to provide services to ensure the benefits of a modern connected life for our people.’’

MTNN announced the renewal of both is spectrum licence for wireless local loop in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz band and the Unified Access Service (UAS) licence by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) today to stakeholders and added that the renewal is subject to licence conditions, including additional amounts under discussion.

‘’By this notification, these licences, which expired on 31 August, 2021, have now been renewed for a further ten-year period, starting 1 September, 2021,’’ MTNN said in their notification posted to the NGX Exchange Limited Wednesday.

The telecomm giant also said that the NCC has acknowledged receipt of the sum of N71.6 billion for spectrum licence renewal, and N374.6 million for the UAS licence in settlement of their invoices for the period 1 September, 2021 to 31 August 2031.

Elated Toriola said ‘’MTN Nigeria is delighted with its strong partnership with the NCC and looks foreward  to working closely with Commission and the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.’’
