Ministers inspect Nigeria’s airport for COVID-19 preparedness, NCDC dispels rumour around broiler chickens and COVID-19 source

    TUE, FEB 18 2020-theG&BJournal- Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Hon. Minister of Health Adele Mamora were at the Abuja International Airport Tuesday to assess Nigeria’s preparedness in ensuring the coronavirus (COVID-19) does not spread into the country.

    They were accompanied by Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development as well as Hadi Sirika, Minister For Aviation.
    The Minister of State for Health also briefed members of the press on the Thermal Scanners set up as part of the mandatory screening process for all incoming passengers into the country.
    Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said it is aware of a rumour being shared on social media that COVID-19 is spread through broiler chickens.
    ‘’This is false. The public is advised to disregard this rumour. Scientists are working to discover the animal source of COVID-19,’’ NCDC said Tuesday.
