WED, OCT 04 2023-theGBJournal |Ministerial nominee Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Kaduna State, collapsed during Senate screening Wednesday, leading to a chaotic scene in the Senate Chamber and prompting The Senate into a closed-door session.
The nominee collapsed shortly after his presentation to Senate members and was hastily shielded from view.
A hand full of Senators in the Chamber were seen scampering to provide first aid as there were no medics on hand immediately to respond to the emergency situation.
Lawal was among three new nominees presented to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday for confirmation as ministers.
He was being screened alongside Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
