TUE 25 JAN, 2022-theGBJournal- The military junta confirmed the coup live on state television, announcing also the closure of the country’s borders, the dissolving of Parliament, and the suspension of the constitution, and pronouncing the tenure of President Roach Kabore over.
The coup in Burkina Faso means that 2 of the 8 Eco/CFA zone countries are now under military leadership.
The leader of the coup is reportedly Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. Reports say he was promoted by President Kabore in December 2021.
ECOWAS, the West African bloc said it is following the development with ‘’great concern’’
