JANUARY 3, 2018 – Microsoft has made a big push into AI over the last couple of years and has its Cognitive Toolkit and its Cognitive Services APIs available to all comers.

Now it has launched AI School with resources for developers who want to learn about AI in general and Microsoft tools in particular.

The new AI School website went live at the beginning of December 2017 with the aim of helping developers get up to speed with AI and machine and deep learning.

In this episode of the Chanel 9 AI Show, another of Microsoft’s initiates for encouraging developers to infuse AI into their applications, Sonya Koptyev explains what AI School is and how to navigate it.

The introductory panel on AI School states: “Dive in and learn how to start building intelligence into your solutions with the Microsoft AI platform, including pre-trained AI services like Cognitive Services and Bot Framework, as well as deep learning tools like Azure Machine Learning, Visual Studio Code Tools for AI, and Cognitive Toolkit. Our platform enables any developer to code in any language and infuses AI into your apps”.

The AI School site can be thought of as a portal in that it takes you to existing content on external sites. For example, we have already looked at Microsoft’s Introduction to Artificial Intelligence which is on the edX platform. Other courses hosted on edX include Deep Learning Explained and Building Your Azure Skills Toolkit.

GitHub is home to a diverse range of tutorials including Doing Data Analysis using R and Developing and Deploying Intelligent Chatbots

Other learning paths take you to Azure documentation, Bot Framework documentation, Channel 9 and You Tube videos. There is also an e-book, Python Data Science Handbook by Jake VanderPlas the content for which is available on GitHub in the form of Jupyter notebooks.
