THUR, APRIL. 27 2023-theGBJournal|It was breath-taking, it was scintillating, it was beautiful, and it was out of this world. Manchester City took a step forward towards defending their Premier League title with a superb 4-1 win over a powerless Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
Kevin De Bruyne’s brace and John Stones’s header gave City the lead before Rob Holding’s late consolation. Erling Braut Haaland then put the cherry on the cake with seconds remaining to put City’s title fate back in their own hands.
City entered this game knowing a win would put the title back in their hands, while Arsenal needed a win to extend their grip on the top of the table. Both teams, with similar styles of play, played entertaining, end-to-end stuff, from the beginning to the end.
Arsenal’s very poor record continue
Arsenal’s very poor record against Manchester City continued as they dashed their chances of earning their first league title since 2003–04, Arsenal have now lost their last 12 Premier League games against Manchester City, their longest losing streak against a single opponent in league history, Losing all six Premier League away matches during Pep Guardiola’s term as Manchester City manager, with an aggregate score of 17-3, Arsenal hasn’t won at Manchester City since January 2015 (2-0), With their manager Arteta, he’s now lost all seven Premier League games as Arsenal manager, and they’re the only team the Spaniard has never beaten.
Haaland offers more than goals.
They have been questioning what Haaland brings apart from goals, but his display showed what he is capable of,from his defensive awareness to his ability to press from the start, hold the ball, link up play, and assist, and when possible, showed that beyond goals, Haaland offers so much to this city.
Pep City is the hottest city
Pep has tweaked, bought, and sold, and finally we can see the team is a masterpiece from scoring to defending and clearing sheets, With a robust squad depth and players in the form of their lives, I think this city is ready to dominate and win the treble.
De brune and Haaland holy alignment
Both players are world class and a fulcrum to the team, there were doubts on how they could play togethernesses perfectly without spoiling the balance of the team, but they have proved doubters wrong, a different set-up was done for them in today’s match, and yet they were key to City’s dismantling, whether it was Haaland’s assist to KDB or his dropping deep to allow KDB to exploit space, their link-up play was awesome to watch, and you tend to wonder if they stay together for a longer period what damage they can do to opposing teams.-curtesy Wavysport
