A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in USA, Miss Folashade Aliu, has expressed their support for the Sen. Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee of the party.Aliu, who was in Port Harcourt for the party`s National Convention, said on Tuesday that the decision to set up the committee was commendable.

She said the time was ripe to rebrand the party, and expressed optimism that the committee would achieve its task.

“I think it is time to re-strategise and rebrand the party. The committee formed by the National Convention is right, its leadership is okay.

“The chairman is somebody we have known for years to be humble and an effective leader.

“What we are doing as members in Diaspora is to know how we can key in the rebranding process,” she said.
Aliu said one way of being part of the process was to do a database of members worldwide.

“We have members in 38 states in USA, Brazil, Netherlands, Canada, South Africa, Cameroon, United Kingdom, Japan and Ghana.

“It’s a very strong membership that the party has not really taken advantage of the value that we can bring,” she said.

Aliu said the foreign chapters should be well recognised because they contribute to the development of parties in their host countries.

She said Diaspora members had decided to use the Social Media to create platforms to inform the people on the rebranding process of the party.

“I believe the caretaker committee is the best gift the leadership has given to us. They have the capacity to deliver.

“Let’s give them the chance to work,” she said.
