The Speaker Oladiji said the Governor’s action is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
He noted that Aiyedatiwa would continue to act until there was a written declaration contrary to that effect.
Akeredolu’s ill health has been a controversial subject in the state with some state actors calling for his resignation from office while suggesting he is incapacitated.
In between, controversy raged over forgery of Akeredolu signature. The divide lead to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at some point despite calls for the Governor to follow the laid down law in the 1999 constitution of Nigeria, as amended, in the case of ”incapacitation.
Akeredolu’s aides counter argument is that he is not incapacitated but medically unfit.
Observers say his decision to embark on a medical vacation and to officially hand over to his Deputy, could help calm nerves in the State.
