TUE, MAY 07 2019-theG&BJournal- Liverpool FC pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in footballing history to book their place in the European Champions League final, scoring an incredible second half triple that left the superstars of Barcelona stunned.
In the 6th minute, Belgium international Divock Okoth Origi tucked in the first goal after a disastrous mistake by the Barcelona midfielder Jodi Alba. Liverpool went into half time holding jealously the 1-O lead.
Barcelona returned to Anfield with the same side that beat Liverpool 3-0 in the Camp Nou. Liverpool had a bright start and applied the aggression properly pulling off their first corner kick within the first minute of kick-off to signal their intention for the night.
Liverpool scored their second in the 53rd minute after a blistering counter attack. The Dutch super sub Wijnaldum scored an unbelievable scorcher for the second goal for Liverpool. Two minutes later he scored his second against the run of play to even the scores and cancel the Barcelona first leg 3-0 advantage.
Liverpool sealed the game in the 78 minute after the Belgium star Origi scored his second goal after a surprise Alexander-Arnold supply to book their place in the final in Madrid, Spain on June 1 2019.
