DELTA FEBRUARY 14, 2018 – Delta state youths under the aegis of Delta Youths Assembly (DYA) have decried the lingering communal clashes in the state involving Aladja, Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba communities; in a latest development, the crises today February 13, 2018 have left at least one person dead and several others injured.
Reacting to the ugly incidence, in a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary of DYA, Comrade Ezekiel Enejeta noted that “The lingering crises involving Aladja, Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba communities in the state is disturbing and needs urgent attention by the state government”
“We as the youths of the state will not keep mute while communal crises endanger the lives and properties of the communities involved and we strongly condemn the violence which have left many dead and several others injured”
“Delta Youth Assembly as a youth movement of all able bodied men and women in the state have as its core values peace, unity and development which we have been sensitizing the youths of Delta State that violence is never the solution to conflict resolutions”
“We therefore call on all aggrieved parties to come to the table for dialogue to avoid further bloodshed in the state”
“It is regrettable that the crises is still lingering even after the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa sued for peace between the people of Gbaramatu, Aladja, and Udu communities in the state, saying communities should always apply dialogue as the best way of settling dispute during a visit to the warring communities in July 2017”
“We also want to call on the state government to take a strong stand and find peaceful resolution to the crises which will look into the remote and immediate causes of the matter and come up with practical solutions to the problem once and for all”
The Delta Youth Assembly is a socio/political pressure group of all youths in the state united for peace, development and peaceful co-existence of all residents in the state.
