FRI NOV 21 2025-theGBJournal| Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Maxwell Opara, confirmed on a national television on Friday that Nnamdi Kanu, sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday by a Federal High Court in Abuja, will file an appeal against the judgement next Tuesday.
Opara also dismissed suggestions that Kanu fired his lawyers amid the controversial case that has gripped the nation over the past five years.
Opara said instead, the lawyers withdrew from the case for reasons he says he will not address on national television.
Nnamdi Kanu was convicted and sentenced by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court on 7 counts of acts bordering on terrorism.
Omotosho also admonished Kanu for not appearing with his legal team to defend himself given the magnitude of his ”crime.”
Opara, speaking after the judgement yesterday to newsmen, argued that the ”judgement is predicated on anger, not on law.”
