Lagos state generates record N398.73bn in IGR, 36 states and FCT IGR figure hits N1.33trn in 2019

FRI, MAY 22 2020-theG&BJournal- The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has published the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) at State level for fourth quarter and Full Year 2019.
The report shows Lagos State leading the rest of the states with a record N398.73bn. The state’s IGR grew 4.33% Year on Year between 2018 and 2019. Quarterly growth was 10.55% between Q4 on Q3 2019. Total revenue available to the state for the period is N516,615,866,457.08.
Meanwhile, IGR figure for the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT totalled N1.33trn in 2019 compared to N1.17trn recorded in 2018, a 20.92% year on year growth.
The Q4 2019 states and FCT IGR figure total was N346.20bn compared to N294.11bn recorded in Q3 2019, a 17.71% quarter on quarter growth.
Rivers State with N140.40bn in IGR (24.49% growth) ranks second behind Lagos as the state with the highest IGR while Taraba State recorded the least Internally Generated revenue of N6,533,106,447.27 but 9.45% up.
Adamawa State recorded one of the biggest Y on Y -2018 on 2019 -Growth of 56.40 % to take their IGR to N9,704,660,185.42. Benue State also increased their IGR by 59.6% to N17,850,480,389.57 Y on Y (Annual) 2018 on 2019.
