FRI, JAN 05 2024-theGBJournal| The Lagos State Government on Thursday reminded motorists of the upcoming temporary closure of a section of the Third Mainland Bridge as repair work on the entire section of the bridge is carried out.
As a follow up, the State Government has outlined how users of the bridge can commute between the Island and Mainland parts of the city as the repair work is carried out.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, repair work on the bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works is scheduled to continue with the closure of Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound from 11 am on Tuesday, 9th January, 2024.
He noted that the closure is part of the ongoing work that started in November, 2023 focusing on fixing the ramps of the bridge.
”However, to ease the burden of commuting, the following arrangements have been made;
From Midnight to Noon, the Bridge will be open for Mainland Inbound Island commuting while those who intend to come from the Island to the Mainland are advised to use the Eko Bridge.
Conversely, from Noon to Midnight, Motorists will be able to access the bridge from the Island to the Mainland while motorists from the Mainland heading towards the Island will have to use Eko Bridge.”
Osiyemi said these timings have been selected to match the peak period flow of traffic and reduce travel stress. Please cooperate with our traffic management officials who will be helping out.
