BIRNIN KEBBI, JULY 29, 2016 – The Kebbi State on Friday flagged off the sale of wet season fertiliser to farmers in Birnin Kebbi.Alhaji Abubakar Ladan, the state Commissioner of Lands and Housing, who is also the Chairman of Committee on Sale of Fertiliser, said 15 trucks of different brands of fertiliser would be sold to farmers at low rates.
He said each truck was loaded with 600 bags of fertiliser and that Birinin Kebbi Local Government had been allocated 9,000 bags.
”Each bag of fertiliser will be sold at N5, 800 and farmers will pay half the amount initially, while the balance of N2,900 will be paid after harvest.
The sole administrator of Birinin Kebbi, Alhaji Aliyu Ambursa, said that adequate measures had been taken to ensure that the fertiliser were available to genuine farmers.
Ambursa, urged farmers to ensure they paid fully for the fertiliser after harvest as well as expand the scope of production.
The Badariya Deport Manager, Hajiya Fatima Usman, said out of the 15 trucks allocated to Birinin kebbi Local Government, 10 trucks contained the NPK brand, while five trucks contained the UREA brand.
A cross section of farmers commended the government for providing the fertiliser and the payment arrangement of two installments.
They pledged to increase their production.
