THUR FEB 19 2026-theGBJournal| Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has announced plans to invest N500 million to rehabilitate the IBB Way electricity injection substation, a major step aimed at strengthening power supply and improving service delivery across key parts of its network.
The planned upgrade of the critical facility is expected to enhance load capacity, reduce frequent outages and stabilise electricity distribution to homes, businesses and public institutions connected to the IBB Way axis.
The intervention comes amid growing demand for reliable power to drive economic activities and support industrial growth.
KEDCO said the investment underscores its commitment to infrastructure renewal and improved operational efficiency, noting that the revamped substation will significantly improve voltage quality and customer experience within its franchise area.
KEDCO noted that recent power supply challenges across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states were largely due to failures on national grid.
