FRI, JANUARY 25 2019-theG&BJournal-President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Meanwhile, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed has immediately been sworn in as Acting CJN. The swearing in of the Acting CJN follows an order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) directing the President to swea-in the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as Acting Chief Justice and Chairman National Judicial Council.
Mr Onnoghen is facing six charges of alleged false declaration of assets. He was first due for arraignment on January 14, but he missed appearance.
