TUE JAN 07 2025-theGBJournal| Mr John Dramani Mahama, 67, has been officially sworn in as the new President of Ghana, a second stint following his dramatic, landslide victory in the 2024 presidential election.
Ghana’s Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo administered the oath of office and allegiance to Mahama, today at the Black Star Square, Accra, Ghana.
Mahama now becomes the first non consecutive President in the Fourth Republic and the 6th President of Ghana.
Mahama first became President of Ghana from July 24, 2012 to January 7, 2017 following the death of President John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills, under whom he served as Vice President from 2009 to July 2012.
He also represented Bole Bamboi people in Parliament from 1997 to 2009 and Deputy Minister for Communication between 1997 and 1998, becoming the substantive Minister of Communications in 1998.
”Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity. An opportunity for us to make a difference in our economic management” Mahama told Ghanaians and world dignitaries that includes Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, President of Rwanda, Paul Kigame.
”We Shall reset our dear nation Ghana. Any honest introspection on the pulse of our nation will reveal that many within our population did not benefit from this domcratic dividend,” he added.
