Jigawa Govt. inaugurates reconstituted board of internal revenue

The Jigawa Government has inaugurated its newly reconstituted Board of Internal Revenue.

A statement issued by Malam Isma’il Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Finance on Friday, named Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed and Mr Sadiq Muhammad as Chairman and Secretary of the board respectively.

The statement stated that the state Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Umar Namadi, urged the members to discharge their duties with fear of God.

According to the statement, the board is to provide general policy guidelines regarding the function of the internal revenue service and supervise the implementation of such policies.

It added that it was part of the responsibility of the board to ensure effective and optimum collection of all taxes and penalties due to the state under the relevant federal and state laws.

The Chairman of the board, Ahmed who responded on behalf of other members, thanked the state government for appointing them to serve in that capacity.

Ahmed assured the state government that they would justify the confidence reposed on them.

Other members of the board are Usman Na’allah, Sani Muhammad, Muhammad Kwatalo and Mustapha Katanga.

The representatives of the state ministries of finance, justice, commerce, local government affairs, and the organised private sector, directors and heads of departments are also members of the board.
