THUR NOV 20 2025-theGBJournal| The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is convicted today by an Abuja Federal High Court on seven counts of engaging in terrorism act.

Justice James Omotosho presided over and read the verdict in Kanu’s terrorism trial.

Justice Omotosho found the defendant (Nnamdi Kanu) guilty in relation to counts one, two and three being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Justice Omotosho held that the threats of violence and killings, including the declaration of sit at home in the South East states, in his many broadcasts constitute acts of terrorism.

The High Court equally finds Nnamdi Kanu guilty on counts 4 and 5 of inciting violence leading to burning of police stations, killing of police officers and ordering of destruction of property of federal government.

The court equally held that Nnamdi Kanu issued threats to Nigerians including his people ”he claimed to be fighting for.”

Other verdicts read against Kanu includes that he (Nnamdi Kanu) carried out violence using his radio broadcast, which led to the death of many people.

The Judge presented ”all these violent statements from Nnamdi Kanu’s broadcast” as evidence before the court which the judge said, ”were deliberate as he believes in violence.”

Another brazen verdict is that the sit at home order by the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu led to the killing of Ahmed Gulak, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Party official assassinated in May 2021, in Imo State, South East, Nigeria.

Before the trial, the Court witnessed a mild drama which culminated in the expulsion of Nnamdi Kanu from the Court Room after Justice Omotosho dismissed three fresh motions filed by Kanu as ”unmeritorious” and adjourned the case for judgement.

Kanu protested the decision and verbally attack Omotosho before he was removed from the court room.
