ABUJA, AUGUST 18, 2016 – Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo, the National President, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has assured that kerosene will soon be accessible and cheaper in the country.Okoronkwo gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.
He said that efforts were being made for massive importation of the product into the country, adding that the association had also put some measures in place to support government’s effort.
He said that the association had not pegged any specific amount but with the measures on ground the prices would come down.
“We are not going to put price now but I can assure you, it will be cheaper than what you are getting right now.
“That way you will be happy that succour is beginning to come our way.
“We know there are challenges about getting the product but are we are trying to bring a solution to cushion the effect,’’ he said.
Okoronkwo said that the challenges that were being experienced in the sector would not hinder the association from delivering on its mandate.
He said that there were challenges on every sphere, saying “what we are looking at is prospect, very soon, we will be there.’’
He said that with the new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) policy on Foreign Exchange (FOREX), the association would take the opportunity to get FOREX and sell the products cheaper.
