TUE, APRIL. 18 2023-theGBJournal |The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) say it has decided to write to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba to seek for the immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari.

INEC took the decision after its meeting today, were it discussed matters arising from the Adamawa Governorship election.

The Commission at the meeting also is asking the IGP to pursue possible prosecution of the REC, and requested the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of the REC for further action.

INEC last Sunday suspended the the collation of the result of the State supplementary election held on 15th April 2023 following the REC’s declaration of a winner while results collation was still on-going.

INEC said today the collation process shall resume at a time to be determined by the Returning Officer.
