SUN, 17 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) kept to its promise of not playing to the advantage or disadvantage of any political party or candidate in the Osun State governorship election, delivering one of the most credible and well-organized elections yet in the country Saturday.

The election culminated in the election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke, who was declared winner of the election by the INEC returning officer for the 2022 Osun State governorship election and Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, having scored total vote of 403,371 to defeated the All Progressives Party (APC) candidate Ggoyega Oyetola who garnered 375, 027 votes.

The jubilation across the State on the election outcome reflects the near flawless delivery that INEC gave during the entire process, and most ardent critics of the Commission have hailed the process as ‘’surprisingly clean, fair and free election yet since the Chief MKO Abiola election in in June 1993.’’

PDP declared the victory ‘’a new dawn,’’ and congratulated ‘’all democratic institutions, stakeholders and all patriots who stood by the people to achieve this great shift.’’

The PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar declared after INEC read the final results today, that ‘’light has come to Osun,’’ while congratulating Adeleke ‘’on a well-fought victory.’’

‘’Most importantly, congratulations to the great people of Osun State for proving that power indeed belongs to the people.’’

The Party’s Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa also twitted his joy and congratulated the ‘’people of Osun State and my brother, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for the decisive victory at yesterday’s polls.’’

He prayed that the party can sustain this drive into next year, ‘’as we work to elect Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the next President of Nigeria.’’
