SAT, AUG 08 2020-theG&BJournal– The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is making good its promise of furthering transparency in its election result management system.
The Electoral body has approved the introduction of a dedicated public portal, the INEC Result Viewing (IReV), that will enable Nigerians view polling unit results real time as the voting ends on election day.
The Commission said it will begin testing the innovative result management system from the Nasarawa Central State Constituency election in Nasarawa State scheduled for today (Saturday 8 August, 2020) and will be extended it to the Edo and Ondo States Governorship elections as well as all subsequent elections.
The Commission hopes that this innovation would further consolidate public confidence in the electoral process but wishes to emphasise that this does not constitute electronic collation of results.
ββThe collation of election results shall remain as provided by law, a manual process of completion of relevant result sheets and their upwards collation until the final results are determined,ββ INEC said.
