MON. 13 MARCH 2023-theGBJournal | The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu today assured the Labour Party’s Legal Team that the Commission will provide all the documents it requested for to prosecute its case.
The assurance follows a meeting between the Commission and the legal team of the Labour Party at the Commission’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The INEC boss while reiterating that the Commission ‘’has nothing to hide’’ said documents available at the HQ will be given immediately.
‘’We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily,’’ Prof. Mahmood told the Labour Party lawyers.
The Labour Party’s Legal Team, comprising 60 lawyers was led by team’s leader, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu to the INEC HQ to discuss modalities for obtaining the documents ahead of the litigation it brought to dispute the outcome of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election.
