Justice Anwuli Chikere of an Abuja Federal High Court has dissociated herself from the trial of former minister of interior, Abba Moro, on personal reasons.
The trial judge made this known to parties at the resumption of trial, yesterday.
“I am sending it back to the Chief Judge for reassignment on personal reasons. When it gets reassigned, the parties can continue,” she simply said when the case got called up.
Aliyu Yusuf, prosecuting counsel, however informed the court about an amended charge that was stood down, having had the case file returned back to the Chief Judge for reassignment.
Moro, who is enjoying bail on self-recognisance, is standing trial alongside former permanent secretary of the ministry, Anastasia Daniel-Nwobia, deputy director, F. O. Alayebami, and Drexel Tech Nigeria Limited on an 11-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence, procurement fraud and money laundering,
