LAGOS, AUGUST 8, 2016 – The management of Ikeja Electric (IE) on Monday urged electricity consumers in its zone to take advantage of the ongoing discounts initiative to offset their outstanding bills.The Head, Corporate Communications Unit of the company, Mr Felix Ofulue, made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.
According to him, the initiative offers consumers within the zone who are owing, a convenient channel to offset their outstanding bills.
On Aug. 4, the management of IE introduced a Debt Discount initiative which provides various percentage discount options to enable customers pay off their outstanding bills.
The initiative, designed specifically for unmetered Non-Maximum Demand (NMD) customers, was put in place to provide an avenue to support customers, especially those who are financially constrained by the present economic realities.
Ofulue said the initiative was to enable consumers, who owed the company, the avenue to settle their debts.
He said that the management introduced the scheme as a form of financial support for its consumers who were willing to pay their outstanding amounts.
Ofulue urged consumers to make use of this offer and settle their outstanding bills before it elapsed.
According to him, by providing this discount to them, the company also share part of the costs of the consumed energy.
He said that the three-tier scheme provided a 10 per cent discount for customers who owe between N50,000 and N100,000 while15 per cent discount for those owing above N100,000 but less than N200,000.
Ofulue mentioned 20 per cent discount for customers who owe above N200,000.
He urged consumers, who were interested in the initiative, to apply to the company, and state if they wish to participate in the outright or instalment debt discount exercise.
Ofulue advised interested consumers to visit any of the company’s customer- care representatives at service centres either in the head office or business units closest to them.
