SAT, JUNE 16 2018-theG&BJournal-Kun Aguero put Argentina ahead with a 20 minute strike, his first World Cup goal and the first for Argentina in the 2018 World Cup campaign. The goal after 15 minutes of sheer domination was deftly taken with his left.

Iceland replied instantly through Alfred Finnbogason in an ice cold, in Iceland way, never buckling under pressure and after bullying the Argentine defence with their towering heights. 1-1 after just 25 minutes of play.

Quite a compelling game. When Iceland had a sniff they went for it. They refused to be swept away despite their few touches in possession. They held on for 1-1 at half-time.

63 Minutes later Lionel Messi’s penalty was saved by Halldorsson and the Argentine fans were stunned. A poor penalty and that summed up his day-miserable.

Iceland held their grounds gallantly. 1-1 it ended after 5 minutes added play.
