Ibrahim Babangida Lauds PDP’s Peacemaking Efforts

NIGER,  APRIL 17, 2018 – Former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has commended the reconciliation move embarked by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying it was a pointer that the party would be successful come 2019. He made this commendation on yesterday when the National Working Committee of the party led by its Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus paid him a visit at his hilltop mansion in Minna.

Babangida, while commending the tremendous work the NWC had been doing since getting into office said: “The party has done well in the area of reconciling aggrieved members”.

A source at the meeting, who pleaded anonymity, told our Correspondent that the former military president disclosed that with the efforts being put into the management of the party at all levels, it should record success in next year’s election.

The delegation held a closed door meeting with the former military President in the presence of members of the Niger State working committee of the party led by the chairman, Alhaji Tanko Beji. Secondus, according to an insider briefed Babangida about development in the party and the plans for the Osun and Ekiti states governorship election.

The delegation was also at the residence of a former member of the Board of trustees of the party and late governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abdulkhadir Abdullahi Kure, where they condoled with the widow of the late board of trustees member, Senator Zaynab Kure.

The chairman assured Senator Zaynab Kure “that we are always with you” before appreciating the role her late husband and she played in making the PDP what it was today. They left from the residence to the airport for the return trip to Abuja. It was learnt that other members of the PDP on the entourage of the national chairman were the National Secretary, the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodinyan; National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Maibasira and the national woman leader.

The team were reported to have arrived at the Minna airport via a chartered flight and were driven in a motorcade to the residence of Babangida in about four vehicles.
