FRI JULY 19 2024-theGBJournal|Businesses from banking and financial services to airlines and media groups across the world were hit Friday by a major global IT outage, regarded as the biggest cyber problem of its kind by security experts.
Hospitals, airlines, financial services and media groups operation were temporarily shut down forcing them into emergency plan
The outage was triggered by the crash of CrowdStrike security softeware,. CrowdStrike is first cloud-native platform that protects endpoints and cloud workloads, identity and data.
CrowdStrike has since admitted to being responsible for the outage and has put out a statement saying they are aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor.
”The symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck/bluescreen error related to the Falcon Sensor,” CrowdStrike said, adding that their engineers has identified a content deployment related to the issue and reverted those changes.
