TUE, AUGUST 22 2023-theGBJournal |Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Monday opened the 12th Zonal Conference of State Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) holding at the DSS headquarters in Maiduguri.
The three-day conference, organized by the DSS is being attended by State Directors of DSS and commanders of military and security agencies across the Northeast geo-political zone.
Governor Zulum was represented by Borno State’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar who affirmed that Zulum and his colleagues in the Northeast were committed to supporting security agencies in the region.
The event has other participants who include His Royal Highness the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanami who was represented by Alhaji Hassan Zanna Boguma; the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 15 and Commander of Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai.
During his address on behalf of Gov Zulum, Professor Tar underscored the importance of interagency collaboration in strengthening existing security measures to overcome the myriad challenges faced by Borno State and the North-East region. He also emphasized the importance of intelligence in countering security challenges.
He further noted that though the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents were being surgically decimated, the security space remains complex. He called on security agencies to interoperate to achieve mission success.
The Shehu of Borno applauded the dedication of security chiefs and called for sustenance of their unwavering commitment.
Furthermore, he encouraged the public to support the security agencies with vital information and offer prayers for the success and well-being of Borno and the entire nation.
The conference is expected to come up with a report that will guide security operations in the NE region, with potential impact on the country at large.
