The First Phase of the Blue line, one of the six rail lines and monorail prescribed for Lagos in the state’s Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP), is a thirteen kilometer stretch from Mile 2 to the Marina. It is expected to run on electric power, supplied by an Independent Power Plant (IPP).
”The day we are going to do the official commissioning of the rail track is also the day we are going to launch the official ground breaking of the Phase 2, which will be from Mile 2 all the way to Okokomaiko. We are not stopping until we complete the entire 27 kilometer corridor,” Sanwo-Olu assured.
This first Phase has five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. It is expected to move about 200,000 passengers daily.
