By Audrey LotechukwuFRI, 23 OCT, 2020-theGBJournal- The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again appealed for peace to reign in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub and described the damages on some of the city’s infrastructure as akin to what is seen in war zones.
He urged citizens, while addressing a news conference in Lagos today, to advice those that are still using social media to instigate or incite young men after the level of destruction seen, to desist.
‘’We need to continue to talk to ourselves. Anybody still doing that, such people will probably will require some other psychological test.’’
”It certainly will not be under my watch” he warned, ’’that we will lose the city that has the largest population in Africa, the largest economy in the whole of the black race and I want to say that enough is enough. We need to heal ourselves.’’
He spoke of his visit to hospitals around the city to see patients on admission with various degrees of injuries. He promised that the Lagos State Government will pick the medical bills of all wounded and injured patients.
On the Judicial Panel of Inquiry, he said that the Government has expanded the Terms of Reference (ToF) of the Panel and confirmed that they will begin sitting next Monday at the Lagos Court of Arbitration International Centre at Lakki, Lagos.
With regards to the curfew currently in place in the State, the Governor said that he has consulted with various levels of security agencies in the State, noting that they believe that there are still some pockets or isolated cases of insecurity that needs to be dealt with.
‘’But we have decided that we are going to be easing the curfew from tomorrow morning (Saturday morning). What that easing means is that people will be allowed to go out from 8am in the morning to 6pm in the evening.’’
