Governor Obaseki to meet with President Buhari, in consultation with supporters

SUN, JUN 14 2020-theG&BJournal-Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki hinted today he is seeking audience with President Muhammadu Buhari following his disqualification from contesting the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for this week.
‘’I appreciate the sustained show of solidarity, support and goodwill from Edo people and Nigerians in the face of injustice by the APC,’’ the Governor wrote on his official twitter handle today. ‘’I will be making my next move known after I complete consultations with my supporters and meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.’’
There are indications he will end up in a rival party and his political associates are already calling on him to move to any other platform to seek his second term ambition in the September governorship poll.
His political associates Saturday held a meeting and sources say the meeting is not unconnected to his move a party that allows him realise his second term ambition as the State’s Governor after his disqualification from party’s primaries last Friday by the party’s screening Committee.
Meanwhile, Obaseki met with the Rivers State Governor Nyesom E. Wike of the opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt- government house today as part of the on-going consultation.
