WED JUNE 19 2024-theGBJournal| Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubura has sworn in new caretaker Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state following the lapsing of the tenure of previous Chairmen.
The 23, whose name were sent to the State Assembly today, were all confirmed by the Assembly men amid the political fracas in the state which saw supporters of Governor Fubara take over the secretariates of the State LGAs.
The swearing in ceremony of the caretaker Chairmen was performed at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt.
Recall that the Governor had directed Heads of Local Government Administration to take charge of the LGAs before he announced and sent the names of the new Chairmen to the State Assembly for confirmation.
Meanwhile, the Governor has mandated the State’s auditor general to begin the audit of the accounts of the LGAs in the past three years.
