Governor Diri inaugurates visitation panels to tertiary institutions in Bayelsa State

WED MAY 14 2025-theGBJournal| Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has inaugurated five visitation panels to tertiary institutions in the state.

He said the move was in accordance with the relevant sections of the law establishing the various institutions of higher learning as well as his position as Visitor to the institutions.

The Governor who performed the inauguration at the executive council chambers, Government House Yenagoa, said the panels had been mandated to complete the task in 120 days at the Niger Delta University, the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, the Bayelsa Medical University and the Bayelsa State Polytechnic.

Governor Diri said the initiative is underscored by the guiding principles of transparency, accountability and a genuine desire for progress in our tertiary institutions.

”The underlying objectives are to evaluate the institutions performance and alignment with its mandate, to access academic standards, financial managements, staff/student welfare infrastructure and even the policies of the managements of these institutions, identify challenges and recommend reforms.”

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, leader of the Bayelsa State House of Asembly, Hon. Monday Obolo, Secretary to the Government, Professor Nimbofa Ayawei and others.
