BAYELSA, FEBRUARY 24, 2017 – The Governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Seriake Dickson has commended the Independent Corrupt Practice and other related offence Commission ICPC for its effort toward the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
The Governor gave the commendation on Thursday in Yenagoa during a one day summit on anti- corruption tagged Transparency and Accountability: Institutionalisation of Good Governance for Sustainable Development
Gov. Dickson also use the occasion to advocate for the establishment of ICPC offices in all states of the federation to make the anti-corruption war more effective in the country
“Bayelsa is prepared to partner with ICPC to ensure a better society. Corruption can be preventable even before it occurs. The summit is a deliberate gathering to emphasize our move to carry the citizens along, he added.
In his remarks, Chairman of ICPC Ekpo Nta thanked the governor for taking steps to ensure that corruption is checkmated
He said the summit was necessary in the effort to build and re-position the country for better society.
He also pledged to support the Bayelsa Government, noting that ICPC would appoint some of its officers to join the state’s verification of pensioners and public servants.
