…Bringing food to families in desperate need in 11 Nigerian states.
FRI, JUN 05 2020-theG&BJournal- Givefood.ng has today announced the expansion of its emergency food relief programme to nine additional states across Nigeria. This major milestone brings the total coverage area to 11 states. The initiative began operations in Lagos with a few distribution partners – today it operates nationwide in Abuja, Anambra, Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Kano, Kwara, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Rivers state.
In less than 2 months of operation, Givefood.ng distributed over a 100,000 meals to the most vulnerable, moving them closer to achieving their target of distributing 1,000,000 meals in a week. These meals are delivered through a vast network of volunteers and over a 100 stores and supermarkets nationwide including Shoprite, Spar, Grocery Bazaar, Addide, Hubmart, Grandsquare, Hartleys, Justrite, FoodCo, Trimart and 234 stores.
Givefood.ng achieved these milestones through the support of very helpful and generous coalition partners including Chicken Republic. The initiative will continue to apply its technology-enabled logistics solutions to connect those who want to direct their resources to this cause. This will ensure the availability of food packs for those who need them at easily accessible points within these states.
Coalition founder Kola Masha, CEO of Babban Gona, said: “We are very excited about our expansion and the results achieved so far. The massive support we have received from individuals and organizations over this short period of time has been nothing short of amazing. We are very confident that in no time, we will reach all states in Nigeria and meet our target milestone of 1,000,000 meals per week. We must all continue to find ways to take care of our wider families to ensure that no Nigerian goes hungry. With a simple donation of N2,000, you can feed someone in a location of your choice. Please visit www.givefood.ng to donate. All proceeds go towards feeding the vulnerable.”
David Butler, Managing Director, Chicken Republic, said: “Chicken Republic is committed to supporting our communities in every way we can and collaborating on this initiative is our way of giving back. We know children are the future of our society and believe that no child should be left to go hungry. With this partnership, we are doing our part to ensure that every child we connect with through the Chicken Republic Meal4Meals programme feels loved, special and has a chance at a brighter tomorrow.”
