MON, JUN 29 2020-theG&BJournal- The big engine noise, the intensity of teams, mechanical precision, the pit stops, the strategy, the race, the first win of the 2020 season will all play out this weekend in Austria-the Austrian Grand Prix at the 4.318 kilometre Red Bull Ring, 71 laps of intense racing.
More importantly, the teams will be ‘’Racing as One’’ to show support for Black Lives Matter and in stand against racism.
The teams and the drivers have been on twitter to share their excitement on the return to racing again nearly four months after coronavirus threw the calendar into disarray.
Renault F1 Team twitted their excitement today saying, ‘’this is ..emotional. 16 weeks since we last tweeted one of our 2020 Grand Prix posters, we can finally write this again. Its real…its happening’’
‘’The long wait is over…We’re going racing..its AustrianGP Race Week!!!’’ Scuderia Ferrari tweeted.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing said, ‘’Get hyped! We are back racing at the Red Bull Ring this weekend’’
Mercedes-AMG F1 have unveiled a new all-black 2020 livery for this weekend race to show their commitment to improving the diversity of the team, stand against racism and discrimination. They shared their excitement on twitter also.
F1 recently previewed the 8 F 1 records in danger of being broken this shortened season.
1.The first is Michael Schumacher’s 91 race wins. The reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton is just seven races away from equalling the record and could break the record before the end of this season.
2-Mercedes could become the outright consecutive constructors champions by the end of the season, ahead of Ferrari.
3. Ferrari’s youngster, Charles Leclerc or Red Bull Racing Max Verstappen could become the youngest world champion. The record is currently held by Sebastian Vettel, a record he set when he was 23 years and 134 days in 2010.
4. If Lewis Hamilton or Kimi Raikkonen, finishes in point scoring positions 8 more times this season, they will surpass Schumacher’s 221 times finishing on point scoring position.
5. Kimi Raikkonen can also equal or beat Rubens Barrichello’s race start record. Barrichello started a whopping 322 races between 1993 and 2011 when he retired. Raikkonen have started 312 Grand Prix so far.
6. Hamilton could overtake Aryton Senna as driver who led every lap of a race and won. Senna led 19 of his 41 Grand Prix victories
7. Hamilton could top Schumacher as the all-time podium finisher. Hamilton is 151 from 250 starts. Schumacher achieved 155 podiums from 308 starts.
8. The cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix denied Hamilton a record nine poles at the same race venue. Senna and Schumacher hold the record for poles at one Grand Prix circuit.
