FRI, 08 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| Michel Platini former FIFA President and Michel Platini ex-French international and former vice president of the FIFA have both been found not guilty of fraud following their trial at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, Switzerland.
Both men stood trial over 1.6 million euros payment allegedly made to Platini by Blatter in 2011, a charge both men denied and claimed the payment was belated fee for Platini’s advisory work for FIFA.
The payment was authorized by Blatter in January 2011 and was considered illegal by Swiss prosecutors, saying it unlawfully enriched Platini but the judge in their trial found them not guilty as charged.
Platini after the trail pledged to go after the unspecified ‘’culprits’’ who led the case to them. ‘’Because I will not give up and I will go all the way in my quest for truth.’’
The former French football hero is now expected to earn back his 1.6 million euros.
He was expected to succeed Blatter as FIFA President at the time the fraud charges broke against both men and the case effectively ended their career.
