...Erik Ten Hag departs role

MON OCT 28 2024-theGBJournal| Manchester United today named former Dutch International Ruud van Nistelroy and Ajax boss, 54, interim head coach.

Nistelroy’s appointment follows the departure of Erik Ten Hag after two years with the club. Nistelroy joined the club as Erik’s assistant in 2023.

Manchester United, in a statement said, Nistelroy will be supported in his role by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach, (the sixth since the departure of Alex Ferguson) is recruited.

Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

”We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish well for the future,” Manchester United management said in the statement released by its Communication Department.

Erik’s final game was the 2-1 defeat at West Ham on Sunday which dropped the club to 14th on the English Premier League table.

Erik Ten Hag has won just three games from the opening nine matches this season despite spending as much as 564 million pounds.
