MON, MARCH 11 2019-theG&BJournal-The Flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of the tragic Ethiopian Airline flight ET 302/10 have been recovered, a day after the airline went down six minutes after take-off, killing all 157 on board.
The Boeing MAX B-737 aircraft was on a scheduled flight to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi from Addis Ababa and was scheduled to arrive Nairobi 10.30 am local time but the wreckage of the aircraft was found in Bishoftu, 40 miles from the capital.
The recovery of the data and voice recorders is viewed as a very significant development and follows the grounding of al B-737-8MAX fleet yesterday by the Ethiopian Airlines.
The airlines executives say the decision to ground the fleet is an extra safety precaution.
Following the tragic accident a committee comprising of Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and Ethiopian Transport Authority was set up to carry out the investigations.
‘’Investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the accident, in collaboration with all stakeholders including the aircraft manufacturing Boeing, Ethiopian Civil Authority and other international entities,’’ Ethiopian Airline said yesterday.
Boeing shares tumbled 9% today in premarket trading driving Dows futures lower and China pulled all its 99 Boeing MAX 8 aircraft off the runway. The Civil Aviation Administration of China, in ordering the grounding of their B-737-8MAX fleet said the Ethiopian Airline crash was similar enough tò an October crash involving an Indonesian Lion Air jet.
