WED JUNE 26 2024-theGBJournal| ”We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent (wastewater) treatment plant, today Wednesday 26th of June,” Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications officer, said after plumes of thick smoke was seen on the premises of the multi-billion dollars refinery in Lekki, Lagos, this afternoon.

”There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to any of our staff on duty,” Mr Chiejina added.

Dangote Refinery, a 650, 000 barrel-per-day brand new refinery, the largest in Africa, began operation in January and delivered its first set of diesel laden trucks recently to the Nigerian market.
