MON AUG 12 2024-theGBJournal| The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, Monday led a key meeting aimed at implementing President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to sell crude oil to local refineries in Naira.
This initiative is intended to strengthen the domestic economy and support the sustainable operations of local refineries, including the Dangote Refinery.
The meeting brought together important stakeholders, including senator Lokpobiri Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL; Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS Nigeria) Mrs. Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; and other notable participants.
During the in-depth discussions, which underscored longstanding challenges within the petroleum sector, the Honourable Minister expressed strong confidence in the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders to achieve the directive’s objectives.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu July approved for the sale of crude oil to the Dangote Refinery in Naira as he seeks to force down the price of domestically refined petroleum products.
